Inside Our Certification Process: How Every Device Earns Its Seal

A "certified refurbished" label means nothing without a real process behind it. Here's what actually happens to a device before it's allowed to carry the FeelsBrandNew name.

Why certification exists in the first place

The refurbished market has a real trust problem, and it's not solved by better marketing copy — it's solved by an actual process, applied consistently, to every single device. So before anything at FeelsBrandNew earns the right to be listed, it passes through checks across six distinct areas. Not all checks apply to every device type — battery health, for instance, doesn't apply to a desktop Tiny PC — but every applicable check has to be passed.

The six areas every device is checked against

01 Authenticity & Parts

The refurbished market has a genuine counterfeit-parts problem. Before anything else, we confirm the device in front of us is exactly what it claims to be — original manufacturer components, an authenticated serial number, and a configuration that matches what's listed. No swapped parts, no surprises.

02 Functional Testing

Every physical input and output gets tested by hand — the display, keyboard, ports, camera, microphone, speakers, and wireless connectivity. Nothing is assumed to work just because the device powers on.

03 Performance & Stress Testing

A device can boot fine and still fail under real workload. This is where the processor, memory and storage get pushed under sustained load to surface any instability that wouldn't show up in a five-minute check.

04 Battery Health

Battery is the single most common reason a used device disappoints its owner months later. We treat it as its own dedicated check — cycle count, current capacity against original spec, and charging safety — not an afterthought.

05 Cosmetic Grading

Refurbished doesn't mean flawless, and we don't pretend it does. Every device's actual physical condition — chassis, screen, hinges, ports — gets honestly recorded, not smoothed over in a product photo.

06 Software & Data Security

The previous owner's data leaving the device isn't optional — it's verified. Every unit goes through a secure factory reset and data wipe, with a genuine, properly licensed operating system confirmed before it's ever listed.

Certified isn't a sticker we add at the end. It's the reason a device is allowed to be listed at all.

Who's actually behind the process

This process is overseen by our Chief Supply Chain Officer, who brings more than 35 years of hands-on experience restoring and certifying premium technology — including large-scale asset restoration programs for major banks and manufacturers — and has personally supervised the inspection and certification of over 10,000 enterprise devices. Data security and authentication practices are shaped by a leadership team that includes a certified cyber forensics expert, so the "trust" part of this process isn't just a marketing claim — it's backed by real professional credentials.

Worth knowing: not every check applies to every device. A desktop Tiny PC doesn't get a battery check; a laptop doesn't get checked against cellular network specs. Each device is certified against the checks that are actually relevant to it.

Frequently asked questions
What actually happens before a device is listed for sale?

Every device passes through checks across six areas — authenticity, functional testing, performance, battery health, cosmetic condition, and data security — before it's approved for listing.

Does every device go through every single check?

Only the checks relevant to that device type. Battery checks, for example, don't apply to desktop Tiny PCs, but every applicable check for a given device category must be passed.

Who is responsible for certifying devices at FeelsBrandNew?

The certification process is overseen by our Chief Supply Chain Officer, who has over 35 years of experience in premium technology restoration and has personally supervised the certification of more than 10,000 enterprise devices.

Is my data really removed from a refurbished device?

Yes — every unit goes through a secure factory reset and data wipe as part of the certification process before it is ever listed for sale.
